Until recent times, the opposite tendency was common: many male and female individuals from the lower classes would, more or less artificially and clumsily, imitate the mannerisms, speech and behaviour of the upper classes. Today people are doing the very opposite, and they believe themselves unconventional in doing so, when in fact they are nothing but vulgar imbeciles.
